Blachart

Blachart Lulu - FrontPaperback ($25.95)     Kindle ($2.50)

Binding: Perfect-bound Paperback
Dimensions (inches): 4.25 wide x 6.88 tall

“Truthfully, d’Angelo found himself unsurprised that the engines had finally packed up. Weaver – like his predecessors – had been a kind of starship ‘backyard mechanic’ and at the time of the explosion, the stardrive was all but held together by bits of wire and duct tape. Weavers mistake cost him the stardrive – and Fuller and Jang their lives. “Blown up” seemed a little inadequate to describe what really happened, but the engines were now spread over the last light-year or so behind him. Now that really made his calendar cycle.

Life hardly ever turns out the way we expect it to, and for Mykl d’Angelo it had just taken a bad turn for terrible. Stranded in deep space, he is handed a chance to redeem the other shipwrecks in his life – his lost career in the Imperial Starfleet and a lost chance at a relationship with the girl of his dreams.

In order to pull this off, he must confront hordes of Corsairs, a crotchety starship captain, his former girlfriend and a particularly dangerous character called Blachart who will lead him behind enemy lines, where he will learn the meaning of trust – but very likely, never return.” [Read more]

“The battle cruiser was lost.

Kaine was the last of his crew that survived – or if any others were still alive, he was unaware of it.  It didn’t seem likely.  Somehow the thing had managed to kill every one of them within the space of only a few days.  They all died horribly – mangled and mauled to death.

At first the deaths were taken as freak accidents, being at first sight unrelated and spaced far apart.  Then, as suspicion was aroused, murder seemed the cause.  Soon it became clear that it was no natural thing that was killing them.

Sabotage isolated them from their home, thwarting any hope of outside help.  Frantic unreliable sightings of frightening things – horrible things, led to chaos.  The crew, terrified, opted to die fighting and went hunting for their attacker.  His only regret was that they found it.  It killed them all.

At first the discovery of the derelict alien ship had been an interesting diversion.  Now the crew of the starship Mordrake had to face the terror and solve the ancient riddle of the Akx.  Or suffer the same fate .” [Read more]

“Meradinis – home to the once fearsome and legendary Corsairs, had finally fallen to the might of the Terran Space Fleet. Justice had been swift and those living under the name of ‘Corsair’ faced relentless pursuit, imprisonment or death. After decades of living in fear, the nightmare of the Terran colonies was over at last.

Or was it?

The Terrans thought they’d caught them all, but there was still one left. The one that got away – Sona Kilroy, the most dangerous Corsair of them all!

It was up to Mykl d’Angelo – a man called Adam, and the combined crews of the starships Antares and Mordrake to stop Kilroy before he could start the terror all over again.” [Read more]

“When a single Ruminarii Hammerhead arrives to invade the small backwater Terran colony of Deanna, the people of Atro City go to meet them at the space port with open arms.  (Perhaps ‘exposed’ is a better word?)

Life as a private investigator, slash bounty hunter isn’t all Gary Beck wanted it to be.  There aren’t any big mansions on a palm beach owned by an affluent writer generous enough to let him live rent-free and use his spare Ferrari.  But then you have to ask yourself, what could you expect living on a planet like Deanna?  As a third rate colony in the Terran Empire, Deanna has more than its fair share of dull moments.  What could you expect from a planet like that?  It orbits a star called Ramalama.  If you think that’s funny, Deanna’s two moons are called Ding and Dong, respectively.  (This is a local joke.)

Cindy Mei Winter hoped to put her violent and somehow depressing past behind her, but now it seemed her new beginning (and her holiday) were going to have to wait.  The Gimp are back and this is no time to be a sissy. With the talents of Fred the Arborian and Gary (aka Beck the Badfeller), as well as the Skegg’s Valley Dynamite Fishing Club, how could she possibly go wrong?” [Read more]

The Time Saving Agency

Front Paperback ($22.49)     Kindle ($5.00)

Dimensions (inches): 4.25 wide x 6.88 tall

“The TSA liked having fresh agents on the job with a clear mind and steady hand.  Time travel wasn’t for the faint of heart.  The pay was good enough, but as Scrooby had decided long ago, that even if he didn’t get paid for it, the thrill alone was payment enough.  Then again, the TSA realised they couldn’t afford to have disgruntled employees with the power of God at their fingertips, so the pay was very, very good.

Things happen at a certain time in a certain way, which in a sense, is what it’s all about.  If it didn’t, then things would be completely different. Johnathan Scrooby was extremely tense. His job at the Time Saving Agency was a tough one.  Billions of lives depended on him not screwing up.  Once, he’d screwed up in only a small way and people wore those little yellow smiley faces on t-shirts for decades afterwards.  And that was just a small screw up.

A week ago, the American War of Independence was fought in Mexico. Yesterday Napoleon managed to dig a tunnel across the English Channel, invaded London and everybody at the Agency ended up speaking French for a while. Sorting that out had been… well, challenging. Mon dieu.

Something smelled funny in the anals of History.  Things were not as they were supposed to be. Someone somewhere was tinkering with the works. Somehow, he had to go back and fix it or who knows what might happen this time.” [Read more]

Dead Man’s Hammer

FrontPaperback ($21.50)     Kindle ($5.00)

Pages: 212
Binding: Perfect-bound Paperback
Dimensions (inches): 4.25 wide x 6.88 tall

“Obsidian crows frequently got run over because quite frankly, they were too damn lazy to get out of the way and anyway, they would just get up and walk off again afterwards. They were flightless birds, mainly because they were extremely hard bodied and far too heavy to fly – unless they fell off a cliff or were launched from a catapult. (Anything will fly if launched from a catapult – ask the Navy.)

Deanna was just another third rate colony in the Terran Empire – and it was pretty much as boring a lump of rock as could be expected. That is, until Gary Beck, aka Beck the Badfeller ran over an obsidian crow with his Jeepo and didn’t have a spare tire. (Things pretty much went down hill from there.)

There was an assassin in town now and she had a score to settle. She was pretty, but as most poets will tell you, beauty can be deceiving. The same poets, who would write about Helen of Troy as the face that launched a thousand ships, would write about Villainessa Tittle as the bitch that sank them. As an assassin, she was the worst kind; this meant that she took pride in her work, enjoyed what she did for a living – and above all, that she was bloody good at it. And this time unfortunately, it was absolutely 100 percent personal.” [Read more]

Loderunner

FrontPaperback
($23.97)     Kindle ($5.00)

Published: May 25, 2016
Pages: 268
Binding: Perfect-bound Paperback
Dimensions (inches): 4.25 wide x 6.88 tall

“Ever since he’d decided to quit being a P.I. and to try his hand at running cargo instead, things had just blown up in Timaset Skooch’s face one day at a time. (Florpavian Flamebirds tended to do that occasionally.) Between the labour disputes and accidental deaths among the crew, (who believed in settling disputes internally) he was beginning to get a headache worse than the ones he got from getting kicked in the head. Things had just gone pear shaped again and now he found himself in the middle of a kind of cat and mouse game with some cloaks and daggers thrown in for good measure.

Returning from an evening spent visiting relatives in Mars City he didn’t know he had, he arrived at the local space terminal to find his new acquisition stolen. A few minutes later, the crew of his slightly run down loderunner “Celeste“, returned from the nearby pub, blind drunk, puzzled and now unemployed as well.

He was sure it had something to do with the 10 000,00 credits he was offered  to transport two passengers to an asteroid in the rings of Jupiter, (as soon as possible, no questions asked), by a middle-man with no neck and a tendency to smile a lot.

And to crown everything, his girlfriend was mad at him too (just a little).  He was beginning to regret ever winning that card game…” [Read more]

Space Vacation

Space Vacation Lulu - CopyPaperback
($10.00)     Kindle ($5.00)

Binding: Perfect-bound Paperback
Dimensions (inches): 4.25 wide x 6.88 tall

“Everybody likes to take a vacation now and then, and perhaps on the rarer occasion, people like to take an extra-special holiday.

In the more likely case of the wealthy – and less frequently, the extremely lucky – this means a cruise off-world on one of those really fancy star-liners that go from one system to the next, picking up and dropping off glittering and excitedly chattering passengers along the way.

‘Paradise between the planets’, they call it. Most of the time, that’s how it is. But not this time. How could a holiday in space turn into a murder mystery involving vampires? Yes, you read that right. Vampires.

On the last voyage of the Demeter – a deep space star-liner with the Red Star Line, passengers and crew got more than they bargained for. Way more.

“Quite simply, Christina Engela is one of the best voices in sci-fi right now and to not read her work would be to miss a treat!” – Mark Woods, author of Time of Tides and Fear of the Dark.” [Read more]

Deanna is a quaint planet, home to odd-ball quantum physicist Dr. von Gleichstein and his little dog Vluffy… and a few uninvited guests.

The Herr Doktor and Vluffy are faced with quite a conundrum – even bigger than the Doktor regularly losing his eyebrows. Their home is overrun by mutant two-headed cockroaches – and not even a hammer will stop them! However will they solve this problem?

Innocent Minds is an endearing tale set in the Quantum Series universe created by Christina Engela.

The illustrations were well worth the finger-cramps.”  [Read more]

Many kids today face bullying from their peers based on differences in race, gender, sexual orientation or gender identity.

In a world where bullying and intolerance of diversity is becoming increasingly a problem, it’s important to teach children – and adults – compassion for others.

This book was written to inspire kids (and the adults who read it with kids) who are bullied for being different without focusing too strongly on the bullying angle.

Christina Engela is an author and long-time human rights activist with experience in dealing with various types of bullying.” [Read more]
